Hugh Royer from Columbus, Georgia attended Mississippi state university for 2 years prior to transferring to Columbus State University. During his 4 years at College Hugh was a member of both Mississippi State and Columbus State men’s golf teams. Hugh won the NCAA Div II championship in 1985 and was NCAA Div II player of the year in 1985 and 1986. He turned Pro in 1987 during the PGA Tour / Sunshine Tour. Hugh spent 13 years as a member of the PGA Tour playing on both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour where he was extremely successful winning 4 times, 2 . After a successful career on tour Hugh turned his passion to coaching and helping others from his experiences and Hugh started teaching in Columbus Georgia. Shortly after Hugh was recruited by IJGA as a Senior Coach to head up the Post Graduate Program and Full Time Program. Hugh spent 4 years in Hilton Head at IJGA before starting his own Academy in Myrtle Beach SC – Champions Golf Academy. Hugh returned to IJGA in December 2021 where he currently holds the position of Senior Golf Coach. By virtue of Hugh’s experience and expertise Hugh has coached a multitude of elite level players and has guided the careers of players on all majors tours around the world, including Major Champions and players specifically the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. Hugh enjoys the opportunity at IJGA and being able to share his experiences and knowledge with the next generation of players to help guide them in their quest for the echelon of golf in which Hugh was able to personally experience.
