Gerardo Gomez comes 4th in Sage Valley

The strongest field in junior golf is the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, with the best juniors
from around the world invited. 36 Boys and 24 Girls. As a second year AJGA All American and
second year invitee to Sage Valley, Gerardo proved that he belongs at the very top of the junior
game by finishing 4th. This also after notable successes in the other AJGA “majors” where
Gerardo has had a number of near wins.

After a solid 1 under par 71 on day 1, in perfect conditions, Gerardo climbed to within a shot of
the lead with a 4 under 68, in wet and windy conditions, which was an exceptional round.
Slightly scrappy start and some careless putting in the front nine, Gerardo had slipped back, with
being the champion he is he closed strong with four birdies in the back nine to record a two
under par 70. Seven under, only a few off the winning score of 11 under par by Giovanni
Binaghi from Italy, who had an exceptional final two rounds of 5 under and 8 under.

Also, nice to see IJGA friend Yana Wilson work her way up the field to finish third, preparing
for her second appearance at the Augusta National Woman’s Amateur in early April.
