PRACTICE TO WIN

Over the 2023 Winter break IJGA enjoyed having two wonderful golfers spend time at their Bishops Gate facility, practicing hard, which turned into wins.

Regular visitor, fourteen year old Sofia Cherif Essakali from Morocco, came in mid-December to prepare for her Florida swing, after winning the Pan-Arab games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in late November.  Always a favorite when she visits and inspiring to see her disciplined practice routines, she was well prepared for the First Tee Doral Classic, in which she won the U15 section by 8 shots, following this up by an impressive win at the Citrus Golf Trail Ladies Invitational where she was the second youngest player in the field.  Her last event of her Florida swing was the Annika Invitational where, again one of the youngest in the strong field, she finished sixth.

Our other visitor, Mirabel Ting from Taiwan, came to stay with her friend and IJGA student, William Huang, whom she met in a junior golf academy in Australia a few years ago.  A recent transfer to Florida State from Augusta University, Mirabel won the Women’s Orlando International Amateur, played across the road from Bishops Gate at Mission Inn, by three shots.
