Sofia Essakali: Elite Junior Golfer Visits IJGA

Sofia Essakali visits the IJGA campus

Moroccan golf prodigy Sofia Cherif Essakali visited the International Junior Golf Academy to prepare for the AJGA Ping Invitational.

At just 13, Sofia made history at the Lalla Meryem Cup, a Ladies European Tour (LET) event. Opening with a solid 74 (+1) on day one, she led Morocco. Despite a nervy second round, Sofia’s determination prevailed, making her the youngest player to make the cut in a LET tournament.

While at IJGA, Sofia got exclusive training with our Senior Golf Coach, Julieta Granada. Julieta had a successful career on the LPGA, was an Olympian at the Rio games, and won the World Cup for Paraguay in 2007.

Julieta was known for her excellent short game, evident in the fantastic putting lesson she gave Sofia. We look forward to Sofia’s success most immediately in the Ping Invitational.
