In his first year at IJGA, Tote Abaroa was awarded Most Improved Player for the 2024–25 school year. Now, after a year of hard work, Tote had his breakthrough victory on his home course— La Loma Club de Golf in San Luis Potosí— in front of family and friends.
Competing in the XV Copa Centro Boys 18 & Under field, Tote kept his composure, starting his final day with back-to-back birdies. He then closed with a clutch birdie on 18 to secure the win with rounds of 70, 75, and 37 (two over total)— edging local contender José Roberto Sola by one and holding off Gabriel Derbez in third. Congratulations, Tote!
Tournament Highlights
“I feel very happy. I think I took advantage of the home advantage very well,” Tote shared with Crónica News. “I was very focused during my first round when it was suspended, and I stayed mentally sharp all day. I started with two birdies today, so the suspension didn’t affect me much. Playing 23 holes is not easy at all, but it went well.”
Growth and Grit
“Most Improved” isn’t a label; it’s a standard. Tote’s win is proof that daily habits, not occasional highlights, make lasting impacts.
