IJGA Students Shine at the First Tee Doral Jr. Classic

First Tee Miami-Doral Jr. Classic

The First Tee Miami-Doral Jr. Classic is always a challenging event, played on the Red Tiger Course for Girls 16–18 and the Blue Monster Course for Boys 16–18.

Conditions became even tougher on day two, as strong winds added to the challenge across both courses.

IJGA student Nicole Sardinha delivered an excellent final-round one-under-par 71, finishing just two shots shy of victory. Former IJGA student Andrea Barragan also put together a strong tournament, earning a sixth-place finish.

A True Championship Test

Even though she lost momentum on the par 5s during the tough conditions of day two, she showed her resilience and wrapped up the event with a competitive finish.

Great job to both players on their fantastic performances!

Growing Through Competition

Mikaela McAuley opened the event with a steady 76, placing sixth after day one, despite a couple of double bogeys on the par 5s — a reflection of her overall consistency and ability.

In the Boys 16–18 division, IJGA student Carlos Villarreal finished 14th overall, completing all three rounds without a single double bogey, an impressive achievement on the demanding Blue Monster course.

In the Boys 14–15 division on Golden Palm, Terence McAuley stayed focused, made the cut, and gained valuable tournament experience.

A Promising Future With IJGA

Performances like these highlight how IJGA students continue to grow through competition, learning to manage pressure, adapt to challenging conditions, and gain experience against strong fields.
