Rising Under Pressure at the Lubbock Regional
IJGA alumna and Purdue senior Natasha Kiel delivered one of the most clutch performances of her college career at the 2024 NCAA Lubbock Regional. With Purdue and Texas A&M tied for the final qualifying spot after 54 holes, a five-player, count-all playoff was set on the par-5 ninth hole. Natasha rose to the moment. She flushed a 225-yard 3-iron onto the green and calmly sank a 12-foot eagle putt, clinching Purdue’s place in the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship for the 20th time in program history.
Head Coach Zack Byrd called it the highlight of the tournament:
“She hit the purest 3-iron I’ve ever seen. I have no words for what this team did the last six holes today. Incredible grit and fight.”
Overcoming Adversity to Lead Her Team
Natasha’s playoff heroics were even more meaningful because of the challenges she faced throughout the season. She battled through injury while continuing to stay focused and determined. These are the same qualities she developed during her time at the International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA). Her ability to persevere and deliver when it mattered most is a true reflection of her resilience and growth as an athlete.
From IJGA to the National Stage
Natasha began her college golf journey at Vanderbilt in 2021 before transferring to Purdue, where she became a key contributor and team leader. Her development from IJGA standout to NCAA difference-maker highlights the powerful foundation IJGA provides for future collegiate and professional success.
Now, Natasha and the Boilermakers head to Omni La Costa Resort in California for the NCAA Championship, held May 16–21. After that, Natasha will pursue the next step in her career by competing in Q-School this summer.
