IJGA Alumni, Filip Jakubcik, member of the University of Arizona Wildcats, won the prestigious Western Intercollegiate college event. Played over the Alister MacKenzie designed Pasatiempo in California (MacKenzie also designed Augusta with Bobby Jones), Filip was 4 under on this challenging course par 70 course, beating out WAGR ranked #2 Michael Thorbjornsen by one shot. Past champions include now world #1, Scottie Scheffler (2015), and PGA star Maverick McNealy (2016).
As a result of this win Filip moves up to WAGR rank #51. Filip is also a Coach pick for the international team at the Arnold Palmer Cup to be played at the Lahinch Links in Ireland in July 5th to 7th. Hopefully, after being on two of our IJGT Race to Scotland trips to Gullane, Scotland, Filip is prepared for the challenge of windy, links, golf. Congratulations Filip, we’re proud of you!
