On a weekend when Denmark can be proud of the accomplishments of their professional golfers, we welcome back the Danish National team for a training camp at Bishops Gate. At the closing event of DP World Tour at the Jumeirah Earth Course in Dubai Nicolai Hojgaard won with a closing 64, with birdies at holes 14,15,16,17 to see off Victor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood and Jon Rham, his Ryder Cup team-mates. His twin brother finished T11. Back in January 2017 the brothers were part of the Danish training camp that spent ten days at Bishops Gate, as well as Emily Pederson, who represented Europe in the recent Solheim Cup in Spain.
It was also good to see another Dane Jeff Winther finish in the top ten. His brother Patrick attended the IJGA, Hilton Head, in 2007/08 then transferred to GGA, which is now part of the IJGA, from 2008 to 2011. In February 2009 he had a notable win in the AJGA HP Boys Championship, now the AJGA Simplify, beating Jordan Speith on the second play-off hole with an 18 inch tap in birdie.
For good measure Thorbjorn Oleson finished 26th in the DP World Tour event, making it four Danes in the top 26, one less than France who had five, but the same as England who had four and more than Scotland and Spain, who each had two.
