This class of 2023 fall college signing was quite the success for our students here at IJGA. We are extremely proud of the hard work that they have done and it has paid off in every way. The signees had high GPAs, great scores, showed so much improvement, discipline and dedication and became all around leaders here in our community.
The 6 November signees are:
- Hibiki Adachi (Japan) – Boston University
Hibiki is a 3 year IJGA student from Japan. She works hard, always does the right thing and is so kind to everyone. At the Montverde academy she has a GPA of 4.2 and was awarded top academic honors in the fall of 2022.
- Jeremy Chen (Taipei City, Taiwan)- Northwestern University
When you think of Jeremy Chen 3 words come to mind, perseverance, determination and commitment. He knew that he wanted to get into a top school so he came up with a plan and simply had the discipline to stick to it. That discipline paid off. Chen has a 4.3 GPA and is ranked 40th on the AJGA ROLEX rankings.
- Rafael Estrada (Guadalajara, Mexico) – University of North Texas
Rafael always wanted to attend the University of North Texas and he was very committed to that goal. He has a 3.9 GPA and a recipient of high honors award from MVA this quarter. His golf game is just as good as his grades and these two things earned him a spot on their team
- Sebastian Gamboa (Merida, Mexico) – Florida Gulf Coast University
Hailing from the town of Merida, Sebastian has been here for 3 years and has made tremendous progress. He was able to rise to the number 10 spot on the AJGA rankings early in 2022. The high ranking gave Sebastian numerous offers for different colleges but he decided to play at the division I level and attend FGCU
- One Kashima (Oyama- Shi, Japan) – University of North Florida
One has been at the IJGA academy for 6 years. She and her family have made incredible sacrifices for her to follow her golf dream. One has great determination, integrity and discipline. She can boast a 4.05 GPA and she is strong on and off the golf course. She is a leader here for many of the students and will be a great addition to the UNF women’s golf team.
- Jack Turner (Saunderstown, Rhode Island)- University of Florida
Jack has attended IJGA since the 8th grade. His game really improved his sophomore and junior year which helped him to land a spot on the Florida Gators men’s team. Not only is his golf game great, but he has a 4.1 GPA at MVA. Turner has a current AJGA ranking of 71 and the 28th ranked in his class on JGS. Lastly he has dreams of heading to the PGA TOUR and golfing with the Gators will be the perfect place for him to continue with this dream.
To give you some perspective, here are some cool stats about the universities this esteemed group is attending:
- 8 NCAA Division 1 Championships (North Texas and UF)
- 1 Top 10 Nationally ranked Universities in the USA according to US News (Northwestern)
- A University that a previous world #1 golfer attended (Northwestern/Luke Donald)
- A University that is ranked in the Top 10 in the Golf rankings (Florida)
- 3 Universities that are ranked in the top 100 on Golf rankings (Northwester, Florida Gulf Coast, University of North Florida)
The class of 2023 March signees continued to impress us with their focus and motivation both in the classroom and on the golf course.
The 6 March signees are:
- Santiago Bonequi (Mexico City, Mexico)-Mount St. Mary’s University
Santiago has spent the last 2 years at IJGA. He is one of the most talented players from Mexico with a great deal of potential. With a scoring average of 74 and multiple under par rounds, Santiago is committed to play NCAA Di golf at Mount St. Mary’s in Maryland.
- Adam Gregg (Tampico, Mexico)-Lenoir Rhyne University
Adam is a 3rd year student-athlete at IJGA and has been attending summer camp with us since he was 11 years old. Adam’s determined mindset and positive attitude has served him well over the time he has spent with us. He will take his light and love to the next step of his journey as a future Lenoir Rhyne Bear.
- Martin Hurtado (Las Condes, Chile)-Mount St. Mary’s University
Martin had decided to spend his senior year of high school at IJGA and has reached his goal of attending a university in the United States. He has been able to successfully balance his academic and golf commitments while achieving honor roll status every grading period at Montverde Academy. Martin is a sociable young man who gets along with everyone and Is well-liked by the coaches, staff and students. Martin will be joining Santiago Bonequi as a Mountaineer at Mount St. Mary’s University.
- Eugene Kang (USA/Korea)-Hofstra University
Eugene has been a student-athlete at IJGA for 7 years and is considered the “old guard.” In his senior year, Eugene has a GPA of 4.16 and has been awarded high honors for his academic achievements this year. We have seen his potential in the game, having shot 67, 68, 69, 70 and 71 this year. He understands how commitment, sacrifice, and focus helped him reach his goals earning a spot as a Hofstra Pride.
- Aaron Lin (New Taipei City, Taiwan)-Lander University
Having great success in his home country, Aaron was already a great player when he came to IJGA. Aaron has been at IJGA for 4 years. He has a scoring average of 72 with 16 rounds under par. His positive attitude and ability to adapt easily will make him an asset on the Lander University Bearcat Golf Team.
- Nitis (Zeer) Vittadanont (Bangkok, Thailand)-Goucher College
Zeer has been with us for 3 years and is one of the most meticulous student-athletes with an introspective, serious demeanor. He has a great deal of potential in golf, which won him the AJGA qualifier. His future journey will take him to Maryland where he will play college golf at Goucher College.
