Zhang set to compete at U.S. Women’s Amateur

August 4, 2014 has been a day IJGA student, Yunjie Zhang of Haikou City, China, has been waiting for anxiously ever since she qualified for the 114th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y. The championship, which is conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) is one of the best amateur events in the world. The 36 holes of qualifying stroke-play will be conducted on August 4-5, 2014, with the lowest scoring 64 players advancing to the match-play portion of the championship.

Prior to the championship, Zhang has been able to get in practice rounds at the beautiful Nassau Country Club to become acquainted with the bent grass greens that are different than what she normally plays in the Southeast part of the United States and back in her home country of China.
