Dong Jin Park’s fall season was bookended by championship titles at the IJGT Lowcountry Open at Oldfield Golf Club in September and the IJGA Invitational at Sea Pines in December. Park first discovered the joys of hitting the ball straight when he decided to accompany his father to the golf course one day. His dad continues to have a big impact on his game. “My father really cares about my golf games,” Park said. “He always says good things and teaches me a lot.”
At 14 years old, Park already has an impressive golf resume including carding a 1-under 71 at Oldfield in September. Read on to learn more about Park.

Q&A WITH PARK
What is your favorite golf memory?
When I was 12, I played a tournament in Korea and I won that tournament in my age group.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to play games or read books.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Enjoy yourself. Win.
What motivates you?
Tiger [Woods] motivates me because he is one of the best golfers in history.
What’s the craziest thing that has ever happened to you on the course?
One day, I just played golf with my 3-wood. That day I shot 91.
What aspect of your game have you seen the most improvement in this year?
I think my short game has gotten better because in Korea there is often no practice green.
Favorite course to play and why?
My favorite course is Oldfield because the greens are nice and the course is not hard.
What are your goals for your future after IJGA?
Like everyone else, I want to play on the PGA tour.
If you could give one piece of advice to other junior golfers or people considering IJGA, what would it be?
