Shawn Mehring was adopted from Romania when he was a year old, but grew up in Annandale, New Jersey. He played numerous sports growing up, but his main focus was baseball. He went to Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee where he played Division I baseball as an outfielder. He majored in K-12 Health and Physical Education and taught these subjects while coaching baseball for two years post-graduation. Along with his teaching certification, Shawn is also TPI certified. Over the next year, he plans to be TPI Fitness Level 3 and earn the designation as a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS).
Shawn became interested in performance training when he was a freshman in high school. “I saw how strength and conditioning aided my athletic ability and got me to the top level of collegiate baseball,” said Shawn. “To this day, I feel that being a physically active person is a way to achieve optimal health and performance.” He became interested in teaching at a young age, especially in the health and physical education scope. “I feel that educating the youth on healthful living will guide them to reach their full potential in sport, and in life. I take pride in ensuring that each student has their needs met in order to achieve their goals physically, mentally and emotionally.”
