Austin Maher of Bracebridge, Ontario, has signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Al., to play golf. The current IJGA senior will attend Montevallo in the fall as a freshman.
Since 2010, Maher has played in 33 IJGT tournament events, his recent best being a second-place finish at the Sanctuary Shootout at the Sanctuary Golf Club in September of 2013 where he shot scores of 76-76–152. He averages a score of 76 and has played in eight events this season.
The Montevallo Falcons men’s golf team recently finished in ninth place in the Peach Belt Conference Championship on April 19, 2014. The team’s best performance of the season came during the Bearcat Classic in Greenwood, S.C., where they finished in third place.
Maher has held a personal goal of playing college golf since he began with the IJGA and IJGT in 2010 and as he finishes his tenure at the academy, his goals are becoming a reality. The IJGA wishes Maher the best of luck as he pursues golf at the next level!
