After two T2 finishes on the Web.com Tour–in the Club Colombia Championship and the El Bosque Mexico Championship–IJGA alum Richy Werenski finally recorded his first victory winning the BMW Charity Pro-Am by two strokes. The tournament was hosted at The Thornblade Club in Greer, S.C., on May 19-22, 2016.
The Georgia Tech grad carded two eagles during the tournament on the par-5 fifth hole at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in round one and the par-4 16th hole at The Preserve at Verdae in round two. He didn’t record a round over par and made par or better on every hole in the final round to card a 6-under 65 and clinch the title. He finished with a 21-under 265 tournament total. With the victory, Werenski jumps to second on the money list, which should be more than enough to earn a PGA Tour card as a top-25 finisher in the Web.com Tour regular season.
As for current IJGA students, Kotaro Nishimura finished ninth in the IJGT Long Island Championship. The two-day, 36-hole event was hosted at Eisenhower Park Golf Course on May 21-22, 2016.
Shiso Go tied for ninth in the 33rd Annual Scott Robertson Memorial. The three-day, 54-hole event was hosted at Roanoke Country Club in Roanoke, Va., on May 20-22, 2016.
Congratulations to Richy, Kotaro and Shiso on a great weekend!
