The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) hosted the inaugural Lowcountry Junior Golf Tournament at Wexford Plantation on Hilton Head Island this past weekend and IJGA students found great success.
Angela Wang (Wint Phoo Nadi Aung) won the Girls Division after a playoff with fellow IJGA senior Sera Tadokoro. Sera played an excellent second round to surge up the leaderboard to tie Angela and force the playoff.
Kayla Kozak played strong to claim the third spot, finishing three strokes off the pace. All together, IJGA girls, including Haruka Shintani, Tiana Cruz and Fiona Wang, claimed six of the top seven spots.
IJGA sophomore, Matthew Pilgrim, won by eleven strokes in the Boy’s 14 and Under Division. Matthew was impressive throughout, staying steady and posting a pair of 79 rounds to claim the title.
Lino Galdin, another senior, finished tied for sixth in the Boy’s 15-19 Division, four strokes off the pace on a tightly bunched leaderboard.
On Monday, Shiso Go qualified for the Azalea Invitational in Charleston with a competition low 70. The tournament will be held March 29 – April 2 at the Country Club of Charleston. Shiso will be competing with a tough field that includes college level players and we wish him all the best. Go Shiso!
