Corey Lopez Wins Mexican Women’s Amateur

Corey Lopez, who trains at Bishop’s Gate Golf Academy (BGGA), held off Arkansas contingent Maria Fassi chasing her to win the Mexican Women’s Amateur.

Interestingly enough, in another year and a half, she’ll be one of those Razorbacks. Lopez, from Monterrey, Mexico, is a high school junior who has committed to play for the reigning SEC champions. BGGA will have four other alumni plus Lopez on the Razorback’s team next year.

Lopez finished 72 holes at Guadalajara Country Club with a 4-under total. It gave her a six-shot victory. Earlier this year in an interview with the Annika Foundation, the 16-year-old named her idol as Arkansas senior Maria Fassi, who won the 2018 Annika Award.

Congratulations Corey and best of luck at the Annika Invitational!
