Jack Turner’s Impressive Western Amateur Performance

IJGA alumni Jack Turner, a standout five-year student, has had a fantastic year. Known affectionately as the “King of Bishops Gate” at IJGA for his dominance on the challenging course, Jack’s skills earned him a spot on the University of Florida’s “Gators” golf team.

His successful first year at UF has set the stage for even greater achievements.

Gators Dominate at the Western Amateur

The recent Western Amateur tournament showcased the strength of the University of Florida’s golf team. The event indicated the Gators’ exceptional talent, with three of the semi-finalists hailing from UF.

After winning his semi-final in the morning on the 19th hole, Jack squared up against his teammate, rising senior Ian Gilligand, winning the last two holes to square the match on the 18th.

The two Gators then battled for eleven play-off holes, the longest match in the 122-year history of the Western Amateur, until Ian won on the 29th hole!
