Bishops Gate Golf Academy sweeps MetroWest Classic

Bishops Gate Golf Academy (BGGA) student John Daly II claimed victory in the Boys U18Division at the IJGT MetroWest Classic in beautiful Orlando, Florida, earning an automatic invitation to the 2019 Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final.

Daly II, son of PGA Legend John Daly, put together fantastic consecutive rounds in difficult conditions, shooting an opening 70 (2-under par) Saturday followed by a 73 on Sunday afternoon. This the seventh all-time victory as part of the IJGT for Daly II.

In second-place for the Boys U18 Division was BGGA’s Egor Zotov(Moscow, Russia) who ended the weekend with rounds of 74 and 73 for a 147 total finish. Rounding out the top-three was BGGA’s Niels Schmidlin (Zug, Switzerland). Schmidlin concluded the 36-hole contest with rounds of 77 and 74 for a 151 total score. BGGA student-athletes Alex Liu (France) came in 3rdand Georgy Voronov (Russia) 10th.

In the Girls U18 Division, competition was closely watched from the opening tee-shot until the final putt. Standing alone after two-tough rounds of play was BGGA’s Manhua Chen (Guangdong, China). Chen, a senior at Bishops Gate Golf Academy, played solid all weekend finishing with rounds of 72 and 74, a total score of 146. BGGA’s Sarah Muller (Czech Republic) came in 4th.

In a two-way tie for second place in the Boys U16 Division, was BGGA’s Eduardo Garcia. Garcia rounded out the weekend after scores of 74 and 76. BGGA’s Zoravar Singh Star (India) came in 7thand David Xu (China) 10th.

Trailing but only one stroke in the Girls U16, but walking away in second-place was BGGA’s Maria Fedorowycz (Kyiv, Ukraine). Fedorowycz ended her weekend after rounds of 81 and 76 for a 157 total score.
