Weekend Tournament Preview October 23

More than 30 International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) students and alumni will be competing in professional, college and junior tournaments this weekend! Keep reading to find out who will be competing where (and when!).

15 IJGA students will be taking advantage of another local tournament this weekend, the HJGT Low Country Jr. Shootout at Dolphin Head Golf Club.

Sharad Arora, Jose Chavez, Santiago Diaz, Brock Erwin, Alex Guillen, Leo Hernandez, Norman Hong and Ryan Pongrac will be competing in the Boys 15-18 Division.

In the Girls Division, Angela Aung, Melany Chong, Yiqing Gong, Ankita Kedlaya, Meredith Langs and Yuki Nakayama will be competing.

Coming off a win in last weekend’s IJGT Georgia Open at Savannah Quarters Chase Phillips will be the IJGA’s sole representative in the Boys 14 & Under Division.

The two-day, 36-hole event will be held on October 24-25, 2015, at Dolphin Head Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C. A Gary Player design, Dolphin Head was Player’s first course in the Hilton Head area. Opened in 1974, it was Hilton Head Plantation’s first golf course.

Alumni

Morgan Hoffmann is currently competing in the PGA Tour’s Shriner’s Hospitals for Children Open. The tournament is being hosted at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas on October 22-25, 2015. Hoffmann fired a 5-under 66 in round one.

I.K. Kim, Shanshan Feng and Mariajo Uribe are competing in the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship. A part of the LPGA Tour’s Asian Swing, this tournament is being held October 22-25, 2015, in Taipei, Taiwan.

Matt Rushton, a junior on the Notre Dame men’s golf team, is also competing internationally this weekend in the Jerry Murray/Waterville Invitational at the Waterville Golf Links in Waterville, Ireland. The six-team tournament, which is being hosted by Notre Dame and the Waterville Golf Links, includes three Irish universities and three NCAA teams.

Ayaka Nakayama (UCF) and Kelly Whaley (UNC) are competing against each other in the Landfall Tradition this weekend. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played on The Country Club of Landfall‘s Dye course in Wilmington, N.C., on October 23-25, 2015.

Coming off a second-place finish in the SCU Colby Invitational earlier this weekend, Cake Phuchanbanchob (CSUN) will be competing in the Cal Poly Lady Mustang at Cypress Ridge Golf Club on October 24-25, 2015.

Derrick Villareal (Charleston Southern) will be competing as an individual in the Camden Collegiate Invitational in Camden, S.C., on October 24-25, 2015.

Momo Sakuragi (Rollins) will be competing in the University of Delaware Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event will be hosted at Rehoboth Beach Country Club on October 24-25, 2015. In 2001, RBCC became the first golf course in Delaware to receive the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation from Audubon International.

Beginning on Sunday, Regina Plasencia (Arkansas), Nat Zeng (Wisconsin) and Ana Ruiz (Oklahoma) will be competing against each other in the Alamo Invitational. The event will be held in San Antonio, Texas, on October 25-27, 2015.

Pear Siriko (Indiana) will be competing in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on October 25-27, 2015.

Poom Pattaropong and Shota Ozaki (James Madison) will compete in the OBX/ODU Collegiate on October 25-27, 2015.

Laura Restrepo (Louisville) and Maggie Ashmore (Augusta) will be competing against each other in the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C., on October 25-27, 2015.
