This weekend, many IJGA students competed in the Georgia Junior at Savannah Harbor and all three top spots in the Boys 15-19 and Girls Divisions came home with them. Starting both days with a shotgun start, pleasant conditions with a high of 75 for the final round highlighted the 36-hole event.
In the Boys 15-19 Division, Piyavchad “Print” Yusabai of Pattaya, Thailand, took first with a two-day score of 145. After the first round, he was tied for the lead and his even-par 72 finish in the second round secured him the win. He knocked in birdies in both rounds on holes Nos. 1 and 13 but sang the praises of his final hole in the second round where he knocked in a long putt to secure his title. Conor Byrne of Dublin, Ireland, finished second, one stroke behind Yusabai.
While Yusabai took home the title, Santiago Diaz of Merida, Mexico, certainly took home the “most improved” moniker in his division for the weekend. Shaving an impressive eight strokes off his round one score to shoot 2-under-par 70 on day two, Diaz took home the lowest score in the Boys 15-19 Division on day two. Clementina Rodriguez of Caracas, Venezuela, also shot a 2-under-par 70 on day two and both took home the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award for their respective divisions.
In the Boys 15-19 Division, IJGA students took home the top 10 scores and 14 of the top 15 finishes.
In the Girls Division, IJGA student Ankita Kedlaya of Bangalore, India, snagged her win on the back of an impressive 2-under-par 70, day-one performance. Her final score of 143 was the lowest in the entire tournament. Rodriguez came in second with an even-par finish on the weekend. Rounding out the top three was Bunyaporn “Nat” Zeng of Bangkok, Thailand.
In the Girls Division, IJGA students took home eight of the top 10 scores and nine of the top 15.
