This past weekend Director of Recruitment Jeff Conroy and Golf Coach Matthew Cooke traveled to Bucaramanga, Colombia, to take part in a clinic at the Colombia Junior Championship held at Ruitoque Country Club. The event was put on by the Asociacion de junior golfistas de Colombia (AJGC).
BGGA made a presentation following the practice round to give information about the academy and training opportunities available for juniors. Following the first round, Matthew ran a clinic consisting of interactive performance games for students that included putting, chipping, and bunker shots. Performance games are a great tool used in BGGA training to get students accustomed to playing under pressure. If players are used to experiencing pressure in practice, they will experience less pressure during competition.
The event is one of a dozen junior tournaments held annually by the AJGC to give playing opportunities to juniors in Colombia.
