Zhang-AJGA-EZGO-Scoreboard

Yunjie Zhang and Xue Wen Luo, both of Haikou City, China, led a group of 10 IJGA students at the AJGA E-Z-GO Vaughn Taylor Championship at Jones Creek Golf Club on July 15-17, 2014.

In the Girls Division, Zhang finished in third place after putting together a tournament total of 224. The highlight of her tournament came in the first round, where Zhang carded a 1-under-par 71 to grab a share of first place. This tied for the lowest score of the tournament in the Girls Division, and also gave her the Bridgestone Pole Award, given to the lowest score in the first round. Zhang also finished the 54-hole event strong, going birdie-birdie on her last two holes to finish inside the top three, which gave her Fully Exempt status on the AJGA for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Luo, in just his second AJGA tournament appearance, finished in sixth place with a tournament total of 1-over-par 217. Luo started the tournament off well finishing the first round with a 2-under-par 70. He backed up the great performance in round one with an even more impressive one in round two firing a 4-under-par 68 to take the 36-hole tournament lead. The final round was not meant to be as Luo struggled on the back nine. This was Luo’s best finish in an AJGA tournament.
